That's a wrap on the 2025 Gondwana Rainforest Challenge

That's a wrap! The second annual Gondwana Rainforest Challenge.

Thanks to our passionate participants and supporters—individuals and businesses alike—who came together to explore the ancient Gondwana Rainforests while raising vital funds for their protection and restoration.

"The Gondwana Rainforest Challenge is more than a fundraising event – it's a movement of people coming together to protect these extraordinary rainforests. I want to sincerely thank everyone who took part this year – whether you walked, donated or cheered others on. Your passion and generosity directly supports the protection and restoration of rainforests for wildlife, climate, people and the planet. Together, we are making a real and lasting difference."
– Richard Christian, CEO of Gondwana Rainforest Trust

Connecting People with Nature

Building on our inaugural challenge last year, we're thrilled to see this initiative growing and deepening the connection between people and nature. Throughout September, participants were encouraged to explore over 30 national parks across the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, as well as other protected rainforest sites.

Together, we raised over $8,600 for ongoing conservation and restoration work.

Birds Recorded During Our Team Walk

The Gondwana Rainforest Trust team walk at Rocky Creek Dam was filled with the sounds of wildlife. The forest canopy echoed with the calls of some of the Gondwana Rainforest's most distinctive bird species. We observed the Wompoo Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus magnificus) with its deep coos, the striking Paradise Riflebird (Ptiloris paradiseus), and the unmistakable Eastern Whipbird (Psophodes olivaceus) among over 12 other bird species.

Each of these species plays a vital ecological role, from seed dispersal and insect control to maintaining the delicate balance of the forests.
