Joining the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators
Strengthening our commitment to best practice, science-based restoration.
At Gondwana Rainforest Trust we are dedicated to protecting and restoring the Earth’s rainforests through collaborative, science-based, and ecologically sound action. The purchase of high conservation value rainforest land involves and assessment by our ecologist and then as required we restore degraded land to ensure the preservation of these critically important ecosystems.

As part of this ongoing commitment Gondwana Rainforest Trust has joined the Australian Association of Bush Regenerators (AABR).
AABR is “an established non-profit with the purpose of protecting and enhancing the natural environment of Australia by promoting, developing and fostering the ecologically sound management and repair of ecosystems”. A national community of ecological restoration practitioners working to the highest standard of practice.
AABR exists to “promote the study and practice of ecological restoration, and foster and encourage effective management of natural areas by qualified people, based on sound ecological principles”. Becoming a member of AABR enhances our commitment to science-led planning and ecological restoration.

Why This Matters
Joining AABR is a step that supports the values we embed into every project.
Best Practice: We align our work with nationally recognised standards for ecological restoration, ensuring the most effective and ethical approaches are used on the ground.
Science-Based Planning: Every decision we make is informed by data, ecological knowledge, and expert insight. Having an ecologist on our team reflects our commitment to science-based conservation. James Barrie brings expert insight into best-practice ecological restoration, ensuring that every rainforest property we help protect and restore is guided by evidence, integrity, and long-term thinking - achieving the best outcomes for biodiversity.
Continual Improvement: We are dedicated to continual improvement - through learning, adapting and staying up to date with the latest developments in restoration science.
Cost Efficiency: We are committed to delivering the greatest possible impact on behalf of our donors.
As a member of AABR, Gondwana Rainforest Trust, and by extension our community of Rainforest Rangers, is connected to a broader network of restoration professionals and a knowledge base that supports long-term, sustainable outcomes for biodiversity.

Looking Ahead
We continue to purchase, protect and regenerate Australia’s rainforests - building wildlife corridors, strengthening biodiversity, and supporting climate resilience across the rainforests we work in.
Thank you to our donors, partners, and supporters who make this work possible. Together, we’re ensuring that the rainforest thrives for future generations.
